Scholars at Risk encourages faculty and students at Network member institutions and affiliates to serve as volunteers on permanent and ad hoc committees on a variety of topics related to academic freedom and threats to scholars and universities.

Please contact SAR if you would be interested in serving on one of the following committees or to suggest a new committee:

Scholars in Prison Committee
Works on behalf of scholars who have been wrongfully detained, imprisoned or undergoing legal proceedings which could lead to their wrongful imprisonment.

Committee on the Right to Travel
Receives and responds to reports of restrictions on scholars' right to travel.

Students at Risk Committee
Works to identify ways in which the network's membership and resources may be made available to assist threatened or imprisoned students.

Committee on Writers and Journalists
Works on behalf of writers, editors, translators and journalists who are threatened or displaced because of threats.

Board of Friends of SAR
Helps to oversee the activities of Friends of Scholars at Risk, including helping to raise funds necessary to sustain SAR's work.
