Friends of SAR
Scholars at Risk (SAR) depends on help from university leaders, faculty, administrators, staff, students and other individuals who lend help make our work possible, including:
- nominating scholars and students needing help
- receiving and evaluating information about scholars seeking positions;
- sharing contacts that might lead to positions for scholars at other institutions;
- inviting scholars, students or SAR staff for Speaker Series events;
- inviting scholars or students for temporary visits;
- helping scholars or students adjust to their new community;
- informing SAR about job and fellowship opportunities that might benefit scholars;
- informing SAR about threats to academic freedom or attacks on scholars or universities;
- participating at SAR conferences on academic freedom and related issues;
- working with faculty at other SAR members on research and education projects;
- serving on network committees and on SAR's governing board;
- providing students to serve as interns in the SAR office and on campaigns;
- suggesting new projects for the network's board and membership to consider;
- helping SAR identify resources to sustain activities, grow the network and support visits for threatened scholars and students worldwide.
