Scholars at Risk Network New York University

Friends of SAR

Scholars at Risk thanks the many individuals at universities and colleges around the world who have gone out of their way to help threatened and refugee scholars, especially those who have helped to arrange visits, hosted events, mentored or nominated scholars and otherwise provided invaluable advice and counsel to SAR. Our work is only possible because of you.

Scholars at Risk thanks also the many generous supporters who provide the financial resources necessary to sustain the SAR office and to support visits by threatened scholars and students. Current and past supporters include:

The Vivian Prins Foundation
The Vivian G. Prins Foundation recently announced a $3 million gift to NYU to establish the new Vivian G. Prins Fund for Emigrating Scholars. The endowed fund will assist scholars from other countries who wish to emigrate to the United States or Canada in order to flee persecution and build better lives for themselves while enjoying greater intellectual freedom. The fund will directly support the efforts of the Scholars at Risk Network (SAR), which NYU has hosted since 2003.

The Albert Podell Global Scholar at Risk Fund
Established by NYU alumnus Albert Podell for the NYU Law School, this new fund will be used to give short-term academic appointments at the school to scholars escaping persecution in their home country.
